CARA Programme

Overview

The CARA Programme is a leadership training programme for students at senior level in secondary school. CARA is based on developing a relationship of respect between Mentors and 1st year students, enabling the Mentors to support and empower the smooth transition of incoming 1st years into the school environment. The aim of the CARA Programme is that if a 1st year student should experience difficulties or anxieties of any kind, that they can turn to their CARA Mentor and find in them understanding, respect, advice and assistance.

COMPASSIONATE ALLY RESPONSIBLE ACTIVE

While evaluating the programme, a number of Mentors said that they found it quite difficult to plan the sessions. With this in mind, SYS has devised this structure programme. It will be covered as part of the training for the Mentors in August and will be delivered by them over 8 weeks in September and October. Each session will be 30 minutes in duration, allowing time for some informal chats before or after the structured content.
